The textile and apparel industry is one of the economic drivers in Malaysia. The industry, worth USD2.35 billion, employs over 60,000 workers across more than 970 factories in Malaysia.

This was said by Malaysian High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Dato’ Raja Reza bin Raja Zaib Shah during his working visit to Aewon yesterday to familiarise and show support for Malaysian businesses in the Sultanate.

“I am very impressed with Aewon’s achievements and milestones, including the re-launch of its showroom in Kiarong today. I believe the reason the company has remained strong since its establishment 16 years ago is its ability to provide excellent quality and services.”

He also called on the company to continue being innovative and keep up with the  including acquiring latest equipment and automation to cater to local demand and eventually overseas including Malaysia.

The visit began at Aewon’s PPE Megastore in Jangsak followed by Aewon Garment & Embroidery’s Factory in Ban 5 Mulaut, where the high commissioner and delegates toured departments at the factory namely cutting, sublimation printing, embroidery, sewing, sublimation pressing and packing.

The delegation then visited Aewon Kiarong showroom where Dato’ Raja Reza along with Aewon owner and shareholders officiated with a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the re-launch of the showroom and Aewon Axotiq Creations.

A representative of Aewon delivered remarks and shared the brief history of the company.

“Aewon began its journey in 2006 with a shop in Jerudong and in 2009 opened up the Kiarong outlet to cater to the growing demands and provide customers with proper and accessible space to design shirts and corporate uniforms.

“Our priority as a product and service provider is to provide customers with good service and experience when they visit our showroom. With the growing importance of interior design and how it can impact our priority, we saw the need to refurbish our main outlet to enhance customer’s experience, comfort and also provide better work environment for our staff,” he said.

“The Kiarong showroom underwent a major interior and exterior refurbishments last year and introduced a more welcoming, comfortable and brighter space and they progress along the years, the market opportunity also grew and started to see customers looking for merchandises and product packaging for their business.”

The visit proceeded with the presentation of a token of appreciation and slideshow presentation on Aewon Brunei after which the high commissioner and delegates toured the showroom.
